This 'essentials-only' guide will give you a basic idea of the time frame needed so you can be totally
prepared for your wedding day.
12 months
Choose your:
- Budget and allocate specific amounts.
- Wedding date and time.
- Wedding planner (if using one).
- Guest list.
- Locations for the ceremony and reception.
- Marriage celebrant or minister.
- Catering, flowers, transportation and entertainment.
- Photographer and videographer.
- Bridal attire including bridesmaids and groomsmen.
- Honeymoon: location and length.
- Bridesmaids, groomsmen and all other attendants and let them know.
- Stationery.
Six months
Organise your:
- Wedding cake.
- Invitations and post them.
- Gift registry and where it will be.
- Wedding rings.
- Passport, visas and any vaccinations for your honeymoon.
- Personal documentation if changing your name.
- Hire equipment.
- Fitting for all bridal attire.
- Notice Of Intention To Marry form within six months of wedding date.
Four weeks
Finalise your:
- Wedding dress and any other bridal attire.
- Gifts for each other, the grooms, bridesmaids and attendants.
- Make-up and hairdresser appointments.
- Wedding rehearsal arrangements.
- MC (Master of Ceremonies) for your reception.
- Speeches: speakers, length, content.
- Buck's night and hen's night.
- Seating plan.
- Numbers for your caterer and let them know.
- Bookings: confirm all arrangements.
- Name change documentation.
- Marriage certificate paperwork and ensure everything is in order.
- Last meeting with your photographer and videographer.
One week
- Hold your wedding rehearsal and fix any mistakes.
- Have a final fitting for all bridal attire.
- Organise clothes for your honeymoon and buy necessities.
